Highest level of investment in the company's history to date

The company responded to the double challenge of cost increases on the one hand and increasingly intense competition combined with declining sales and prices on the other, by further modernizing its production plant. The level of investment reached DM 14.7 million, the highest level in the company's history. The main targets of investment were modernizing the rolling mill, the closed-die forge and special steel refinery, and establishing a high-vacuum smelting plant used to produce steels of the highest purity. The share capital was increased by DM 5 million to DM 20 million in December. As with the increase of share capital of DM 6 million in 1958, the capital increase was again subscribed in equal parts by Buderus and Röchling.
