Wartime economy and destruction

Under the wartime economy of the Third Reich, the Röchling-Buderus steel works was increasingly involved in arms production from 1940. On 28 May there was an air raid on the works, killing one person and injuring several others. The roller turning shop and the blooming mill were destroyed. There was also damage to the Wetzlar production department of the Röchling iron and steel works, which was built near the works in 1939.
