With a company history stretching back almost three hundred years, we are still one of the leading special steel producers.
1731: Company founded by Johann Wilhelm Buderus I on March 14, 1731
1836: Johann Wilhelm Buderus II takes over the management of the charcoal blast furnace plant Friedrichshütte
1884: The company goes public and is now called Buderus’sche Eisenwerke AG
1920: Buderus-Röchling AG steelworks founded on April 20, 1920
1924: The company is renamed Stahlwerke Röchling Buderus
1965: Change of name to Edelstahlwerke Buderus AG and complete integration into the Flick Group
1989: The material 1.2738 developed by Buderus Edelstahl is included in the standards system
and subsequently becomes the worldwide standard for large mold frames
2001: With the 1.2738 mod. TS-HH, later known as Thruhard Supreme, we invented another top grade for ever larger mold frames
2003: Crude steel production reaches an all-time high and Robert Bosch GmbH acquires the
Edelstahlwerke Buderus AG
2005: Sale of Edelstahlwerke Buderus AG to the Austrian Böhler-Uddeholm AG.
Name changed to Buderus Edelstahl GmbH
2007: The Austrian voestalpine AG takes over Böhler-Uddeholm AG
2010: Investment in a new forging press with an upsetting force of 10,000 tons provides optimum
production conditions for the largest forging ingots are created
2014: With the construction of a state-of-the-art dedusting plant for the steel mill, Buderus Edelstahl becomes one of the most environmentally friendly steel producers
